Seeking Part-Time Receptionist & Customer Care Specialist

The Forsyth Humane Society (FHS) is a non-profit organization located in Winston-Salem, NC. Founded over 70 years ago, FHS is an animal-welfare organization dedicated to enriching our community by promoting the compassionate treatment of cats and dogs. FHS is committed to placing cats and dogs into loving homes, advancing community understanding of the benefits of animal companionship, providing needed resources to the pet community, supporting a no-kill adoption center and to the spaying/neutering of dogs and cats. The adoption center is staffed with 16 full and part-time employees and many active volunteers.

 

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service to the general public and to our visitors.  The receptionist is responsible for handling the front office and general administration duties which include greeting guests, answering phones, handling inquiries and addressing the needs of the public. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining a professional atmosphere, overall tidiness and organization at the Adoption Center; assist with the delegation of duties to volunteers, and support some aspects of animal care. This is a part time hourly position.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Greet customers and assist with their needs and assess the reason for their visit; ensure the reception phone is always answered; become familiar with FHS policies and procedures for animal care, intakes and adoptions.  Strong communication skills in person and over the phone are essential and the ability to positively guide volunteers and delegate tasks as needed. This position will help the Customer Service Representative as needed, organize public donations and FHS supplies to keep the center tidy and welcoming, and ensure all information forms and applications are stocked and arranged correctly.

Excellent customer service skills and strong computer skills required.  Self-starter with time management and multi-tasking experience; ability to maintain professionalism while working with customers who may be experiencing strong emotions.  Ability to prioritize competing demands and to respond effectively to emergent situations.  Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.  Office work includes sitting, standing, walking, filing, emailing and data input.  Valid N.C.
