Volunteer Committees
The Forsyth Humane Society has a number or committees that are staffed by volunteers. Your time involved would include attending a monthly meeting, usually during a weeknight, and then participating at the level you have to offer.
Joining a committee is a great way to put your expertise to work helping our animals, and a great way to make new friends. Check out the committees listed below to find your best fit!
Technology
- install computer upgradesa
- provide backups to our databases
- provide website development and maintenance
- train new staff and volunteers to use software at the adoption center
- network management
- investigate, review, and recommend new software programs to Board members
- research new products (cameras, printers, faxes, modems, etc.)
- telecommunications expertise (we have a great need here for help!)
Development Committee
- help create and implement new fundraising ideas and opportunities for FHS
- Canister Campaign. Take responsibility for donation canisters at your favorite restaurants or stores
- corporate, individual, donor and giving plans
- special events
Adoption Center Committee
- review and oversee adoption center maintenance needs
- review and recommend volunteer policy guidelines
- review and recommend adoption center policies, adoption criteria
- review and recommend animal care policies
- oversee semi-annual adoption center cleaning
- review and recommend adoption center hours, staffing needs, etc.
- make recommendations to board of directors of any policy changes
Education Committee
- Create, produce and/or update educational/outreach materials
- Facilitate educational spots (print, broadcast and outdoor materials)
- Plan regular and special outreach/educational events in the community (public and private schools/daycare, summer/holiday enrichment programs, places of worship, neighborhood associations, civic groups and museums)
- Collaborate with director on grant writing to further our educational mission
